Elaine Chew
Executive Director
As a scion from a family deeply rooted in the travel industry, my journey into the world of exploration began long ago. After graduating from high school, my fervor for the travel sector led me to pursue a two-year course in tourism in 1993. In early 1995, I made the decision to obtain a tour guide license in Malaysia, which culminated in successfully acquiring the national qualified tour guide license by the end of that year.
From 1995 to 1998, I embarked on my endeavors with an ardent passion and an insatiable desire for travel. I was dedicated to showcasing and introducing Malaysia’s history, culture, diverse landscapes, and the vibrant celebrations of its three major ethnic groups to esteemed guests from Hong Kong.
This marked a significant milestone in my life. From 1999 to 2010, owing to my heritage from Fujian, I felt that using local dialects to promote and introduce Malaysia could be a meaningful endeavor. Therefore, I welcomed guests from Taiwan and learned the Taiwanese dialect. Through interactions with Taiwanese individuals, I gleaned insights into the value of travel and the rights of consumers. I also imbibed the wisdom of maintaining a high-profile work ethic while leading a modest personal life. I realized that honesty and humility pave the way for a more enduring journey.
In 2005, I set out to fulfill a childhood dream – to travel around the world. Year after year, I ventured into different countries, seeking to enrich my knowledge and broaden my horizons. It was during this time that I fortuitously encountered an outbound travel agency, thus commencing my career as a tour leader.
With over 15 years spent in the travel industry, I became the go-to person among my friends when they contemplated traveling. I meticulously managed team operations – from booking hotels and transportation to organizing attractions and planning itineraries – all aimed at ensuring travelers experienced the best possible journey.
From 2010 to 2019, with the burgeoning influx of tourists from China into Malaysia, I ventured into this vast market of over 1.4 billion people. From the Chinese, I learned the essence of learning from those more experienced. Standing still is akin to moving backward. As the ancient adage goes, traveling thousands of miles is worth more than reading thousands of books. Health is wealth, and a well-traveled mind surpasses riches.
Travel has shown me different facets of the world, enriching my understanding of life’s essence. This boundless journey is not just geographical; it’s a profound odyssey of personal growth and enlightenment.

My career journey began in the field of psychology, where I acquired a solid degree and gained valuable experience in teaching. Through teaching, I developed strong communication skills, patience, and personalized teaching methods, laying a solid foundation for my future career.
Subsequently, driven by my deep passion for the tourism industry, I transitioned and worked for several years in the field. During this time, I gained a profound understanding of the diversity and challenges within the tourism sector. I not only accumulated rich experience in destination management but also honed my problem-solving, teamwork, and customer service abilities.
My enthusiasm and love for travel have always been with me, inspiring my pursuit of excellence. I enjoy exploring diverse cultures, experiencing various landscapes, and firmly believe that travel is a form of education and inspiration. This passion for travel motivates my desire to provide outstanding experiences for travelers.
Now, I aspire to merge my diverse background and passion for the tourism industry to contribute my expertise to its advancement. I aim to work in an environment full of innovation and growth opportunities, collaborating with like-minded individuals to explore the infinite possibilities within the tourism industry.

When I graduated from the University of Greenwich in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, the outstanding academic achievements didn’t just symbolize accolades; they stood as a testament to my perseverance and determination.
As an accountant and auditor, I’ve demonstrated exceptional skills and capabilities over the past seven years in my professional journey. My expertise in the field and dedication to achieving excellence in my work have made me a cornerstone of the team. Beyond being an outstanding professional, I’m deeply involved in educating others, earning respect and admiration from colleagues for my spirit of knowledge-sharing and inspiration.
In my leisure time, I revel in exploring exotic cultures. Not only do I experiment with new culinary techniques in the kitchen, delighting my family with mouthwatering dishes, but I also have an ardent passion for globetrotting, exploring diverse cultures and environments around the world. From the tropical rainforests of Asia to the ancient castles of Europe, I experience the magnificence of the world.
