Xinjiang: The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is one of the main regions in China where various ethnic groups

practicing Islam live. Among the approximately 10 million people from the ten ethnic groups practicing Islam in the

country, seven of these ethnic groups, with a total population of 4.5 million, are found in this region. Xinjiang is a vast,

beautiful, and fertile area.

Natural Environment: The region is located in the northwest frontier of China, bordered by Qinghai and Gansu to the east,

Tibet to the south, India and Afghanistan to the southwest, and the Soviet Union to the northwest. It also shares a

northeastern border with the Mongolian People's Republic. Xinjiang covers an area of 1,646,800 square kilometers, which

is about one-sixth of China's total land area.
